MANILA, Philippines — Angel Locsin revealed Sharon Cuneta’s generous contributions in the fight against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, especially to Locsin’s own advocacy to provide for the needs of hospitals and frontliners.

“BTW, Ms. Sharon donated a whopping 3 MILLION PESOS para makatulong kahit paano sa overcrowded hospital situation ngayon,” said Locsin in an Instagram comment on Tuesday, April 7. “Binigay nya ito ng KUSA at AYAW IPAALAM.”

(BTW, Ms. Sharon donated a whopping 3 MILLION PESOS to help somewhat with the current overcrowded hospital situation. She gave this voluntarily and did not want others to know.)

Locsin disclosed the information on Cuneta’s post Monday, April 6 where the Megastar shared a video of Locsin thanking her for tents at the Bureau of Corrections in Muntinlupa City.

Locsin’s fundraising campaign, UniTENTweStandPH, sets up tents to address overcrowding in hospitals.

Prior to Locsin’s comment on Cuneta’s post, one Instagram user (@castroteresa4) criticized donations to those who stage rallies.

“So proud of you Ms. Angel Locsin and God Bless you always! Buti pa ikaw tinutulungan mo iyong dapat tulungan na mga kababayan natin samantalang iyong iba diyan tinutulungan iyong mga mahilig mag stage nang rally sa ating bansa inshort (sic) mga leftist ang tinutulungan! Huwag tumulad sa kanila and you are doing the noble way to help.”

Cuneta and her family helped bail out Quezon City residents arrested last April 1 for supposedly protesting without a permit. The rally was said to have been staged as a call for food and assistance from the government.

The comment riled up Cuneta, who replied, “I do not condone rebels and rallyists. I just want no Filipino to have to lay their lives on the line because they are hungry.”

She added, “Ni hindi mo alam kung ano ang tinulong ko kay Angel. Lahat ng tumutulong dapat pasalamatan kahit ipuwera mo na ako.” (You do not even know what help I gave Angel. All those who help should be thanked even if you reject me.)

After this exchange, Locsin announced Cuneta’s charitable contribution. She also told the commenter, “Let’s help each other at maging source ng positive energy! Kailangan natin lahat ngayon nyan.” (Let’s help each other and be a source of positive energy! We all need that now.)

Cuneta shared a screenshot of Locsin’s comment on Instagram Thursday and thanked her for speaking up.

“Dearest Angel, You didn’t have to. But in truth, it’s sad that in times like these when we should all be coming together to help those in need, to those of us who do help, meron at meron ka pa ring maririnig na masasakit na salita (you will always hear hurtful words),” she said.

“I know you were hurt for me kaya mo nai-post ito (which is why you posted this). Thank you, my Angel.”
