The noontime variety TV show “Eat Bulaga” donated brand new 3D printers to the University of Santo Tomas for the production of personal protective equipment (PPE) amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

While the university’s hospital accommodates possible COVID-19 patients, the school will be producing visors for the face shields needed by its frontliners, using the printers. UST extended its gratitude to the show via its Facebook page last Monday, March 30.

“The University of Santo Tomas, through the Faculty of Engineering, received three brand-new Ultimaker 2+ 3D printers from the company producing the country’s longest-running noontime show, Eat Bulaga,” the school stated.

The UST hospital placed 530 of its staff members under quarantine on March 22, following exposure to patients suspected to have contracted the virus. The members of the hospital staff under quarantine include consultants, nurses and aids.

As of last Tuesday, March 31, the number of COVID-19 confirmed cases in the country has reached the 2,000-mark. The country has 2,084 individuals positive for the virus, as of this writing. The DOH has confirmed 88 deaths while 49 patients have recovered. JB
