While citizens are required to stay indoors to avoid the spread of COVID-19, TV host and former volleyball athlete Gretchen Ho thought of a resourceful way to stay fit despite not having access to a gym and its equipment.

Ho shared her workout routine to her fans using items they could grab at home, such as two bottles of cooking oil, a sack of rice and a plastic basin. The “Umagang Kay Ganda” host came up with eight exercises people can follow for cardio and for toning their legs, arms and core, as seen on her Instagram account yesterday, March 30.

“Burning the #Covid19 FATS,” Ho said. “Workouts you can do from home.”

Ho revealed that some people have been asking her for workout tips which inspired her to create the routine. The TV host advised that each workout should be repeated in three sets, for 12 to 15 repetitions each.

The former Ateneo Lady Eagle carried a plastic basin filled with other washing material up and down the stairs for cardio. In replacement for dumbbells, Ho used two big bottles of cooking oil for biceps curls, and a small sack of rice for triceps extension. She also used a basketball for her core work routine.

“Most important in staying healthy is staying disciplined!” she emphasized. “Keep a schedule and show up to your workouts.”

After President Rodrigo Duterte placed Metro Manila, and later on the entire Luzon, under a 30-day quarantine, Ho was one of the celebrities who suggested some ways to pass the time during this period. She asked her fans how they intend to “survive a quarantine” on social media, which garnered hilarious and inspirational responses.

Other stars have also been sharing their workout routines on social media, such as actress and fitness enthusiast Solenn Heussaff. The new mom demonstrated her postpartum workout routine which targets the whole body and requires minimal to no equipment other than an exercise mat. JB
