Judy Ann Santos is lending the Philippine fashion industry a hand in looking for the right materials needed to create personal protective equipment (PPE) for frontliners battling the COVID-19 pandemic.

The actress is calling on those who can provide Tyvek material for local fashion designers who are creating reusable PPE, as per her Instagram post yesterday, March 26.

“Our friends from the fashion industry [were] given a go signal to create [PPE] for our frontliners.. let us help protect our frontliners,” Santos said.

“[Rajo Laurel] was able come up with a design for a REUSABLE PPE but we will be needing materials for this to happen,” Santos said.

Laurel is working with a group led by milliner Mich Dulce, called Manila Protective Gear Sewing Club, which is looking for volunteers and donors as they join the fight against COVID-19 by helping protect our health workers.

The team needs water repellant fabrics such as umbrella or raincoat material poly microfiber and taffeta, non-woven material 50 grams per square meter up, 26-inch zippers  or longer or continuous zipper, quarter-inch-thick garters or elastics, velcro, quarter-inch-thick twill tapes or ribbons and manila paper.

Santos said that those willing to help can contact Matet Esguerra on 09209649055 for pledges and donations.  /ra
