LOOK: Jane de Leon donates relief goods to elderly amid community quarantine

Jane de Leon handed out relief goods to senior citizens in Cainta, Rizal amid the enhanced community quarantine imposed on the entire island of Luzon.

The latest “Darna” star distributed the packs of food and drinks to the elderly in Barangay Sitio Sibol, as per One Cainta San Isidro’s post on Facebook last Friday, March 20.

Experts have stated that those aged 60 years old and above are more vulnerable to the coronavirus.

Observing the precautions against the disease, de Leon and those she donated to wore face masks while they received the goods indoors. Included in the packages the actress handed out were rice, canned food and bottles of water, as seen in photos accompanying the post.

De Leon also spoke about her effort on her own Instagram page yesterday, March 21.

“Nagpaabot po kami ng aming tulong sa isang barangay that needed help,” she said. “Nakakataba po ng puso na makita silang masaya.”

“I keep on praying na bigyan pa ako ng Panginoon ng sapat na lakas para patuloy na makatulong pa sa mas nakakarami,” De Leon added.

Meanwhile, Angel Locsin, a previous “Darna” star, also chose to assist those at the frontlines of the fight against the disease by calling for donations of foldable beds. She plans to help create sleeping areas for the health workers at hospitals so they would not have to travel to work every day during the crisis, due to the government ban on public transportation.

The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Philippines, as of this writing, has reached 380. The Department of Health stated that among those patients, 15 have already recovered from the disease. JB
