Using their digital platforms to convey a message of hope amid the COVID-19 pandemic, “Wonder Woman” star Gal Gadot sang John Lennon’s “Imagine” with the help of her fellow Hollywood celebrities, musicians and TV personalities.
While Gadot serenaded her fans with the iconic peace anthem, her fellow actors Natalie Portman, Will Ferrell, Mark Ruffalo, Amy Adams, Cara Delevingne and more also sang portions of the track.
Musicians Sia and Norah Jones were also included in the line-up. By stitching together the clips from the artists included in Gadot’s initiative, they were able to finish the entire song, as seen on Gadot’s Instagram account today, March 19.
Before singing, Gadot revealed that she was on the sixth day of her self-quarantine.
“This virus had affected the entire world, everyone,” she said. “[It] doesn’t matter who you are, where you’re from. We’re all in this together.”
Gadot narrated how she stumbled upon a video of an Italian citizen playing the trumpet to the tune of “Imagine” in his balcony for his entire neighborhood under quarantine to hear. She said that the impact of the song was “so powerful and pure,” that it inspired her to also dedicate the song to her fans.
After she sang the first line, “Imagine there’s no heaven,” Gadot’s friends in the industry took over the song.
The stars included in Gadot’s “Imagine” tribute, according to the sequence of their appearances, are: Kristen Wiig, Jamie Dornan, Labrinth, James Marsden, Sarah Silverman, Eddie Benjamin, Jimmy Fallon, Natalie Portman, Zoë Kravitz, Sia, Lynda Carter, Amy Adams, Leslie Odom, Jr., Pedro Pascal, Chris O’Dowd, Dawn O’Porter, Will Ferrell, Mark Ruffalo, Norah Jones, Ashley Benson, Kaia Jordan Gerber, Cara Delevingne, Annie Mumolo and Maya Rudolph.
Numerous other Hollywood stars are taking action in the fight against the spread of coronavirus, such as celebrity couple Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively who donated $1 million to American and Canadian food banks.
Some actors have also tested positive for the disease such as Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson, Idris Elba, Kristofer Hivju and Olga Kurylenko. JB
