As the world is scrambling to fight the COVID-19 pandemic, singer Angeline Quinto is doing her part as an artist to try to lift people’s spirits up by covering inspirational songs and encouraging the public to keep on praying.

Quinto shared with fans her own renditions of Jamie Rivera’s “Heal Our Land” and Erik Santos’s “Lupa” through her Instagram account yesterday, March 18.

“Sana marinig sa langit ang lahat ng Panalangin at awitin ng bawat isa,” the singer stressed. (I hope heaven hears all of our prayers.)

“Father, please Heal our Land. Pasensya [na po] kayo medyo nag [ka-crack] ang boses ko, naiiyak ho kasi ako sa kanta,” Quinto added. (Please bear with me, my voice was cracking, the song was making me cry.)

Amid the increasing numbers of infected COVID-19 patients and deaths, the song aptly says: “Hear our cry and turn our nation back to You/ Lord, heal our land/ Hear us oh, Lord, and heal our land/ Forgive our sins and heal our broken land.”

Quinto then posted her cover of “Lupa” a few hours later and once again called on the public to pray for the country and the whole world.

To prevent the further spread of COVID-19, Malacañang placed the entirety of Luzon under “enhanced community quarantine,” which imposes strict home quarantine in all households; regulation of provision for food and essential services; and heightened presence of uniformed personnel.”

Celebrities along with citizens are doing their part to deal with the situation, specifically to address the needs of the marginalized sector, by donating what they can and establishing fundraisers.

There are currently 202 COVID-19 cases in the country while 17 deaths have been recorded, as of yesterday. Seven people have so far recovered. Globally, 191,127 people have been infected, as of this writing, while 7,807 have died. JB
