MANILA, Philippines — Some members of the cast and crew of television series “Love Thy Woman” were urged to place themselves under self-quarantine after one of its actors, Christopher De Leon, tested positive for coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

“Following the announcement of Christopher de Leon that he has tested positive for COVID-19, we have advised those who might have interacted with him during the tapings of ‘Love Thy Woman’ in the last two weeks to undergo self-quarantine,” TV network ABS-CBN said Wednesday in a statement.

De Leon earlier said he tested positive for the virus, even if he did not have recent travel history outside the country and had no known contact with a COVID-19-positive patient.

He is part of the afternoon drama, which also stars Kim Chiu, Xian Lim, and Yam Concepcion.

ABS-CBN assured it would monitor and help all its staff who have been affected.

“While we have stopped the tapings of all our teleseryes, we will continue to monitor their situation and provide the necessary assistance and support to those who are affected. The safety of our artists, crew, production teams and their families are important to us,” it said.

The network had temporarily stopped the production of its shows as a precautionary measure against COVID-19.

The Philippines is now under a state of calamity due to the rising cases of COVID-19, which originated from China’s Hubei province late last year.

Health officials have so far recorded 193 cases of COVID-19 in the country. Of the number, 14 have died while seven were able to recover.
