Taylor Swift urges fans to stay indoors amid spread of coronavirus

Taylor Swift appealed to her fans to stay indoors amid the spread of COVID-19 after noticing that others are taking the pandemic lightly.

“Guys – I follow you online and I love you guys so much and need to express my concern that things aren’t being taken seriously enough right now,” she said on Instagram Stories last Sunday, March 15.

The singer also pointed out how others still continue to host parties and get-togethers despite the advice from medical experts to practice social distancing.

“This is the time to cancel plans, actually truly isolate as much as you can, and don’t assume that because you don’t feel sick that you aren’t possibly passing something on to someone elderly or vulnerable to this,” she stressed. “It’s a really scary time but we need to make social sacrifices right now.”

Swift also encouraged her followers to stay indoors by uploading a photo of her cat Meredith in her home, as seen on her Twitter page earlier today, March 17.

“For Meredith, self quarantining is a way of life,” she said. “Be like Meredith.”

Swift’s appeal to her fans comes after her fellow singer Ariana Grande also urged the public to take the COVID-19 pandemic more seriously. The “Thank U, Next” singer also criticized those who do not follow the precautions against the disease, saying that they “sound stupid and privileged.”

As countries around the globe work to prevent the spread of the disease, the Philippines, as of this writing, has 187 confirmed COVID-19 cases. The Department of Health stated that out of those patients, four have already recovered. JB
