Actress-comedienne Pokwang has taken to the streets to give uniformed personnel food and drinks, as Luzon has been placed under “enhanced community quarantine” by Malacañang.

Pokwang (Marietta Subong) gave away homemade sandwiches along with water to some police officers and soldiers, as seen on her Instagram page earlier today, March 17.

“Sa mundong puno ng takot at pangamba, ngiti nila ang nais kong makita at mahawa hindi ang CORONA,” she said.

Pokwang was seen in the post giving food and water to police, soldiers and others who appear to be health workers.

Under the “enhanced community quarantine” imposed on Luzon, the presence of uniformed personnel manning checkpoints and enforcing quarantine procedures will be heightened. Strict home quarantine is ordered for all households, public transportation is suspended, and provision for food and essential services is also regulated, said Malacañang.

Other celebrities have also taken it upon themselves to help out during these times. Hip-hop star Loonie handed out food and other basic necessities to tricycle drivers, while celebrity couple Chito Miranda and Neri Naig also donated food and drinks to health workers in Tagaytay City.

There have been 142 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country while 12 people have died as of yesterday, March 16. Three people have so far recovered. Globally, 167,511 people have been infected, leaving 6,606 dead. JB
