After musician Kean Cipriano broke the news that his music label, O/C Records, will cancel its live gigs due to the novel coronavirus pandemic, Callalily’s frontman hinted that the label plans to do an “online concert.”

The concert could be streamed online using smartphones, laptops and other devices, according to his Instagram post yesterday, March 13.

Using the initials of his record label (which originally stands for his and his wife’s, Chynna Ortaleza, surnames), Cipriano hinted at the label’s upcoming project. The singer said that the company’s main goal is to “spread love and optimism” during this challenging time.

“OC = Online Concert,” the musician said. “Our live gigs have been [canceled] because of the Coronavirus spread but that won’t stop us from being creative.”

“We’re musicians and we won’t let anything stop us from playing music for people who love our music. My team and I have been working on this for quite some time now and we will make sure that all safety measures will be applied when we execute this,” he added.

The Callalily singer concluded that for now, the public should keep from each other stay by staying at home.

“This is something new for all of us. Please take extra precautions,” he stated. “Love one another and have strong faith. We will get through this.”

A few hours later, Cipriano posted O/C Records’ teaser for the online concert.

“Music heals. That’s for sure,” he told his fans. “We’ll make this happen as soon as this pandemic subsides.”

“@ocrecordsph #OnlineConcert going live soon on your mobile phones, laptop and smart TV. Catch your favorite #OddCreatures perform live on [the internet],” he said.

The record label’s announcement followed the suit of numerous local and international concerts and festivals that had to be canceled or postponed to avoid the spread of the virus. Earlier this month, Wanderland Music and Arts Festival rescheduled its event to a later date, as seen on its Twitter post on March 4.

Aside from live concerts, other mass gatherings and activities such as movie-going and attending Mass are also discouraged by the Department of Health as a precautionary measure to battle COVID-19. Some museums and parks are also closed until further notice.  /ra
