WATCH: Gary Valenciano sings ‘Take Me Out of the Dark’ amid coronavirus crisis
While the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases rise in the Philippines, Gary Valenciano released a “live and raw” version of his 1988 song “Take Me Out of the Dark” to encourage people to turn to God during the pandemic.
“In the midst of the fear, anxiety, and uncertainty that surrounds us all, perhaps all this can serve as a way of drawing us to Him,” he said in his YouTube post last Thursday, March 12.
“This may be a personal crossroad for many who have often relied on science and medicine; both are struggling to find a cure for [COVID-19],” the singer added.
He then encouraged fans and followers to “take the path that leads to Him,” before stressing that his post is about “something far deeper” than religion.

Along with his song, Valenciano also cited Bible verses such as Proverbs 12:25, Philippians 4:6-7, Job 5:8-9 and Matthew 19:25-26, saying that these passages “may speak to you and bring peace and hope.”
The number of COVID-19 cases in the country, as of this writing, has reached 111, the Department of Health said yesterday, March 14. JB
