Carla Abellana opened her home to two Aspins, or “asong Pinoy (Filipino dog),” which she adopted from the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS).
The actress recounted the adoption with a vlog post on her YouTube page last Friday, March 6.
She explained that the two animals were rescued by the organization days after their previous owner’s body was found dead in their home last September. The situation had left them a bit traumatized, Abellana said before assuring her fans that the dogs have now been rehabilitated.

As to why she welcomed the dogs, Abellana said her Jack Russell terrier named Patches needed companions. However, she admitted that it took her a while to finally choose to adopt, explaining that she needed time to grieve for her Corgi named Sunny who died in 2018.
Abellana also decided to adopt the dogs, named Wing and Fly, because of their eyes, which reminded her of her late pet Sunny’s.
Following two visits to the PAWS Animal Rehabilitation Center in Quezon City, Abellana, accompanied by her boyfriend Tom Rodriguez, was finally able to bring Wing and Fly home.
While the two seemed sheepish in their new home at first, they later warmed up to Abellana. Patches was also eager to interact with his new furry friends.
Abellana also encouraged her fans to adopt dogs and cats, saying that it feels great to give love and a new home to animals in need of a family.
Along with advocating for animal welfare, Abellana also currently stars in the TV drama series “Love of My Life” alongside Coney Reyes, Michael Daez and Rhian Ramos. JB
