MANILA, Philippines — Kim Chui may have been ruffled after her brief brush with death, but instead of going home to rest and ruminate about what happened, the chinita actress decided to go right back to work and shoot two taping scenes.

Chui made the revelation Wednesday as she recounted her experience when two unidentified motorcycle-riding men fired bullets on her van on her way to work in Quezon City.

“Ang instinct ko, pumunta ako ng taping at nagtape ako ng dalawang eksena (My instinct was to go to taping and I taped two scenes). Siguro adrenaline rush, ‘taping tayo, magtrabaho tayo’ when people are asking me kung kumusta ako (Maybe it’s the adrenaline rush. ‘Let’s work’ when people are asking how I was),” Chiu said in an interview with ABS-CBN.

“Tinatanong nila ‘kumusta ka?’ Naisip ko, ‘Oo nga ano, kumusta pala ako?’” the Cebuana actress said in between sobs.

Gunmen opened fire at Chiu’s van at around 6:15 a.m. along Katipunan Ave. corner C.P. Garcia Ave. in Quezon City.

Chiu admitted to feeling scared after the incident; she noted that she initially thought that today would just be a normal taping day for her.

“Dapat magbabasa ako ng script pero inantok ako along the way palabas ng village so humiga ako. So kung hindi ako inantok at tinuloy ko yung pagbasa ng script, siguro tinamaan na ako dito (I was supposed to read a script but I got sleepy along the way so I lied down. So, if I didn’t lie down and I pushed through with reading the script, I could’ve been shot),” she said.

She said she has already talked with a lawyer and the police are looking for CCTV footage of the incident.

“Marami namang tumutulong and I’m happy (Many people are helping and I’m happy),” Chiu said.

The incident made her realize that “life is precious.”

In an Instagram post on Wednesday, the actress alleged that she may have been a victim of mistaken identity, having no known enemy who would try to harm her.
