Actor JC de Vera is now in therapy after undergoing surgery to repair the complete rupture of his right Achilles tendon, which was damaged out of undisclosed reasons.
De Vera has assured fans that he is now well on his way to recovery, but he is admittedly frustrated by the injury as it has made him go “back to zero,” he revealed on Instagram on March 1.
“[First] exercise since my surgery. I am [literally] back to zero. No strength at all on my right leg. It really frustrates me lalo na alam kong (more because I know that) before this happened, I go to the gym all the time and I make sure that I’m productive [every day],” he stressed. “Pero nawala ngayon lahat (But those are now all gone) because of my injury.”
“Well, Baby steps lang talaga muna. Tiis tiis lang (Well, we really start with baby steps first. I just have to endure it for now),” he added.
De Vera, who is known for having an active lifestyle, had been constantly uploading workout videos on his YouTube channel prior to his injury.
De Vera also shared with fans the exercises he will be doing for the next two weeks, which he said will: protect his repaired tendon, decrease swelling, make his range of motion big again, and take away the fear and trauma sustained from the injury. His regimen includes, ankle exercises, leg lifts, hip exercises and hamstring curls.
The actor’s post came with several clips of him doing the said exercises, which showed his right ankle wrapped in bandages and now cast-free.
De Vera recently starred in the 2019 action-drama series “The General’s Daughter”. He is currently part of ABS-CBN’s comedy gag show “Banana Sundae”. JB
