Amid media conglomerate ABS-CBN’s pending franchise renewal, comedian Vice Ganda responded to netizens admiring his home company’s president Carlo Katigbak, and jokingly clarified the executive’s relationship status.
Some netizens lauded ABS-CBN’s president and chief executive officer (CEO) Carlo Katigbak for apparently staying “calm” under pressure during the Senate hearing yesterday, Feb. 24. The TV network’s CEO, along with ABS-CBN chairman Martin Lopez and chief operating officer Ma. Socorro Vidanes, were present during the hearing conducted by the Senate Public Services Committee.
The CEO became a trending topic on Twitter alongside the hashtag #ABSCBNFranchiseRenewal.
Vice thanked the TV network’s supporters on his Twitter account yesterday. He also made a joke about the netizen’s reactions to one of his big bosses.
“Maraming salamat po sa suporta at pagmamahal nyo mga Kapamilya!” the comedian said. “Di po namin gustong saktan ang mga puso nyo pero OPO MAY ASAWA NA PO SI SIR CARLO KATIGBAK!”
(Thank you for your support and love Kapamilya! We do not want to hurt your feelings but, yes, sir Carlo Katigbak has a wife.)

During the Senate hearing, the TV network’s CEO apologized to President Rodrigo Duterte over a controversial political ad, paid by former senator Antonio Trillanes IV, which it aired in 2016. Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra also clarified that ABS-CBN’s franchise will expire on May 4 not on March 30. JB
