‘Dekada ’70’ musical Twitter account now activated after suspension

The Twitter account of musical “Dekada ’70” has been activated after being suspended since November 2019, when the account was about to release promotions for its 2020 run.

Director Pat Valera told INQUIRER.net that those handling the Twitter account @dekada70musical noticed it was suspended last November even when it had not yet posted any content.

After INQUIRER.net reached out to Twitter on the matter, its representatives said that the account was suspended for demonstrating fake account behavior.

The “Dekada ’70” team announced on Facebook today, Feb. 24 that it lodged an appeal to activate the account after the hashtag #Dekada70Musical trended on Twitter this weekend when the show opened.

The team pointed out that the suspension occurred “even before we were able to tweet anything.”

“According to Twitter, we were flagged before as spam for suspicious behavior that violated the platform’s terms and conditions,” it said. “Whatever the reason was that got us flagged as suspiciously spam, what’s important is that we’re back on Twitter!”

It marked its return to the social media platform with a poster and the hashtag #HindiPaTaposAngLaban (The fight is not over yet).

“Dekada ’70” is a musical adaptation of Lualhati Bautista’s eponymous award-winning novel about a middle-class family grappling with the struggles of martial law in the 1970s.

The production is on a three-week run at the Areté in Katipunan Avenue, Quezon City. Tickets for the closing week on March 6 to 8 are still available. JB
