Actress and Reina Hispanoamericana 2017 Winwyn Marquez is set to undergo basic citizen’s military training this year.

“People are asking me why I want to do this,” she said on her Instagram page last Tuesday, Feb. 18. “I simply said because I want to.. that’s it.”

“No need for long explanations,” she added  “We don’t need to justify what we want to do, we can just show them what we women CAN do.”

She accompanied her post with a photo of her at the Naval Reserve Command headquarters in Manila with fellow actor Rocco Nacino. Marquez also thanked him for “opening [her] eyes” to the program.

“Lets go wyn!!! @teresitassen welcome on board and enjoy the training!” Nacino replied.

After training with the Philippine Navy for his role in the Philippine adaptation of “Descendants of the Sun,” Nacino is now a reservist. Meanwhile, his co-star Dingdong Dantes was recently promoted to lieutenant commander of the Navy.

Marquez previously starred in last year’s TV drama-crime series “Dahil sa Pag-ibig,” alongside Sanya Lopez, Benjamin Alves and Pancho Magno.  /ra
