LOOK: Michelle Dee named goodwill ambassador of Autism Society Philippines

Beauty queen Michelle Dee has taken another step towards her advocacy of a more autism-inclusive nation, as she was made the new goodwill ambassador of the Autism Society Philippines (ASP).

“My heart is full [and] [I’m] so grateful for the trust,” the Miss World Philippines 2019 titleholder said in her Instagram post yesterday, Jan. 19.

“With everything that we’ve done and to everything we’re about to do, cheers to a brighter and more inclusive Autism-Ok nation,” she added.

ASP is a national nonprofit organization for Filipinos who live with autism spectrum disorder, as per their official website.

Dee has been advocating for a more inclusive Philippines after growing up with two siblings who both have autism, as seen in her vlog post on her YouTube channel last April.

“It’s not enough for me to just sit by and hope things will get better for them,” she said in the video. “We need more people to ask better questions. We need more people to understand.”

The beauty queen also released a video for autism awareness as she vied for the Miss World 2019 title last December, where she placed as one of the top 12 finalists. JB
