Help can come in more ways than one, as many Filipinos have shown in the past days, including celebrities. Actors Luis Manzano and Alex Gonzaga appealed to the public to suspend their judgment when it comes to celebrities who might not post all their efforts to help the victims of the Taal Volcano’s eruption.

Alden Richards’ father also defended his son from netizens who questioned the actor’s alleged lack of support to the Taal volcano eruption victims.

In times of crisis, Manzano emphasized that what is important is that people are out there helping those in need, no matter how they choose to go about it, the actor said in his Twitter account yesterday, Jan. 15.

“Gusto mo tumulong (You want to help) and post? Great job,” he said. “Gusto mo tumulong behind the scenes? Great job pa rin (still).”

The actor also sent his love to the Batangueños affected by the volcano’s eruption and its ashfall.

He added, “[N]ever invalidate help or someone just because it is not posted online!”

Meanwhile, Alex Gonzaga expressed her appreciation for everyone who helped victims of the Taal Volcano’s eruption. Gonzaga also answered critics, stating that she does not need to post the help she is doing for it to exist.

“[B]oyfriend ko po konsehal ng Lipa at ako man po maraming kakilala sa Batangas kaya bago [n’yo] pa po kami husgahan at idemand na tumulong naisip na ho namin yan,” she said on her Twitter page yesterday.

(My boyfriend is a councilor in Lipa and I know a lot of people residing in Batangas. Before you judge us and demand that we help, we already thought of that.)

Meanwhile, actor Alden Richards was also accused of keeping quiet during the natural disaster. Richards’ father, Richard Faulkerson Sr., responded to a now-suspended account which appears to be questioning the actor’s contribution to the volcano eruption relief efforts.

Apparently, the actor asked his father to lend him P10,000 to help the victims of the eruption. Faulkerson uploaded a screen capture of a conversation he had with his son on Twitter last Tuesday, Jan. 14.

“Pantulong lang (Just to help),” the message stated.

Richards’ father also said, “kahit malayo siya dun sa dapat mabigyan [ng] tulong, may ginagawa na yan (even though he is far from those who need help, he is still doing something).” NVG
