Former Miss Universe Catriona Gray is set to make her hosting debut in the country as she joins ABS-CBN’s “It’s Showtime” for her first-ever episode later today, Jan. 6.

“It’s Showtime” described today as “the luckiest day ngayong (this) 2020,” for the Filipino-Australian beauty queen is the latest addition to their roster of hosts, the show posted on its official Twitter earlier today.

“It’s a back to back to back kasiyahan (happiness) sa Showtime with our Miss Universe 2018 @catrionaelisa #ShowtimeLuckyMsU,” it said.

Gray will be joining Vice Ganda, Vhong Navarro, Jhong Hilario, Jugs Jugueta, Teddy Corpuz, Karylle, Amy Perez, Kim Atienza and Ryan Bang in hosting the show.

Hosts Anne Curtis and Mariel Rodriguez are currently on leave. Rodriguez gave birth to a baby girl last December 2019, while Anne Curtis is currently in Australia and is expected to give birth in March.

The noontime variety show is also set to introduce a new segment called “Mini Ms. U” amid Gray’s addition to the crew, which is set to “search for the next ABS-CBN child superstar.”

Gray, who is also celebrating her 26th birthday today, asked fans to join her in celebration as she makes her hosting debut later.

“Madlang people! Please join me para sa birthday week celebration ko sa (for my birthday celebration on) @itsShowtimeNa [emoji] bukas na (tomorrow)!” she said on Twitter yesterday, Jan. 5.

Gray, who reigned as Miss Universe from 2018 to 2019, has also set her eyes on other fields besides hosting. She inked a contract with ABS-CBN publishing last month for her book “Conquering Your Universe“, which is set to be released this year.

She also said in December 2019 that she plans to pursue a music career, which she claims to be one of her lifelong dreams. Gray, also known for her charity work, said she aims to hold benefit concerts in the future. JB
