LOOK: Bea Alonzo receives award as one of Asia’s ‘rising stars’ in Macao film fest

Bea Alonzo yesterday graced the red carpet of Macao officially as one of Asia’s best talents, as the actress has been recognized with an Asian Star: Up Next award by the International Film Festival and Awards — Macao (IFFAM) and American publication Variety.

The “Unbreakable” star received her trophy at the Macao Cultural Center on the 4th IFFAM’s last day of celebrations, Dec. 10, as seen on Instagram Stories on the same day.

Variety recognized Alonzo as one of Asia’s celebrities with “skills to become something much bigger in the entertainment industry.” The multi-awarded actress was honored for her roles in primetime soap operas and box-office hits.

Alonzo also participated in yesterday’s Hand Print Ceremony as seen in Star Magic’s tweet yesterday, permanently cementing her legacy as one of Asia’s top artists.

Alonzo is one of the eight Asian artists and performers recognized for this year’s IFFAM. The list also includes K-Pop star Yoona of Girl’s Generation; Japanese vocalist, dancer and actor Ryota Katayose; Thai pop singer Praewa Suthamphong; Vietnamese actor Lien Binh Phat; Indonesian actress Asmara Abigail; Indian actress Bhumi Pednekar; and Thai singer and actress Jennis Oprasert.

Alonzo previously expressed her gratitude for the recognition, saying it was ” a great feeling to be recognized along with the other stars from different Asian countries for their body of work,” as posted on her Instagram on Nov. 29.

Alonzo is now the third Filipino talent to receive the award, with the previous two being Anne Curtis and Piolo Pascual. Alonzo recently starred in director Mae Cruz-Alviar’s hit “Unbreakable.”  /ra
