Infamous online comic Senyora Santibañez commended the past ten years of Filipina beauty queens entering at least the top 20 of the Miss Universe, saying Ganados’ place was enough.

“Ten year streak of Filipina Beauty! Sapat na yon Gazini (That was good enough, Gazini)! Salamat binibinis (thank you, women)!,” she tweeted.

Others meanwhile praised Ganados for her courageous bid for the crown. As one @jackieeeee_ put it, “being confident and brave enough to represent our country is already a win for us.”

“You are a winner, Gazini. We’re here to support you no matter what,” she added.

Some suggest that last year’s winner, Catriona Gray, “set the bar too high,” which may have caused her fellow Filipina beauty queen to be pressured.

“With the pressure of being Catriona’s successor for the back to back win, it will never be easy,” one @mrchmctngy tweeted. “For sure, Gazini really exerted so much efforts for this competition. I just hope ppl (people) won’t throw painful words towards her. nevertheless, u still did great, girl!”

“Imagine the pressure on her. Imagine the pressure on following Catriona’s perfect run in the contest,” one @theklmanuel meanwhile said. “Cat (not blaming her) set the bar too high — that even other countries stepped up. Props to Gazini for proudly wearing that sash and smile! Top 20 pa rin!”
