Following their intimate renewal of vows yesterday, Dec. 4, Bianca Gonzalez opened up on why she and husband JC Intal chose to do it after five years of marriage.

The couple renewed their vows in their home through family friend Brother Hans Pe, and in the presence of their two daughters Lucia and Carmen.

“Five years may seem a bit ‘soon’ to renew wedding vows, but for us, we felt it was the perfect time to be reminded of what marriage is and how we can continue to nurture our relationship as husband and wife,”  the TV host explained in an Instagram post on the same day.

She said, “JC and I aren’t really big on gift-giving, so we felt this was the best way for us to celebrate our fifth year.”

Gonzalez reflected on how different it felt to make wedding vows as newlyweds, and then after being married and having kids.

“Marriage is a daily choice to love your spouse. There are days when you say or do hurtful things,” she said. “Marriage requires effort, and it is an unending series of mistakes and learnings.”

“Our vows during our wedding day were idealistic and said through rose-tinted specs. Our vows today after 5 years and 2 kids were more rooted and real,” she said.

She admitted getting emotional as they exchanged heartfelt vows which reassured each other of their love.

“We smiled at each other hearing each one’s vows, because we wrote them separately, but apparently we ended our vows saying the exact same thing,” she noted.

Although the couple has preferred to be low-key about their personal life, Intal made a rare grand gesture when he proposed to Gonzalez in March 2014 at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport. They had an intimate wedding in Palawan in December of the same year. JB
