Singer Leah Navarro, a vocal critic of the administration, said President Duterte was “terrified of Sen. Leila (De Lima)” after the President brought up again the alleged sex scandal of the opposition senator.
Navarro accused the Duterte administration of “doing everything” to disparage De Lima, a staunch critic of Duterte’s bloody drug war, because the President was afraid of her, as posted on her Twitter earlier today, Nov. 21.
“You are so terrified of Sen. Leila you had your people do everything to denigrate her, including that fake video,” she said. “Duterte, you may have illegally jailed her, but you will never break her spirit.”
Navarro’s tweet came following Duterte’s hostile remarks on De Lima during the 80th anniversary rites of the Department of National Defense at Camp Aguinaldo in Quezon City yesterday, Nov. 20.
“She allowed to be filmed when she was having sexual intercourse with her driver, who was the collector. And that picture has been making the rounds. You saw it all,” Duterte said.
“Can you really believe a woman like that? Allowing herself… She was then the Justice Secretary. And if you want, I will give the disc to you. Look at the way she slurped after doing it,” he added.
Other than De Lima’s alleged scandal, Duterte reiterated that the drug charges against De Lima were accurate, saying: “On my oath as President, I’m telling you, it is true.”
Duterte repeated his allegations as De Lima marked her 1,000th day of detention at the custodial center of the Philippine National Police headquarters in Camp Crame. She was detained in February 2017 for drug-related charges. /ra
