‘No yaya, no problem’: Miriam Quiambao praises 11-year-old son for babysitting duties

Caring for a baby is a job best done with team effort, and without her husband or yaya, Miriam Quiambao was able to rely on her 11-year-old son as a babysitter.

The former beauty queen and TV host faced a dilemma when she had an appointment to attend and had no one to look after her 8-month-old baby.

“Yaya has an emergency to attend to in the province and my husband @ardyroberto left for Iloilo for a talk. I’m left alone with my kids and needed to go for some treatment this afternoon,” she said on Instagram last Sunday, Oct. 20.

She said her eldest son, Joshua, agreed to babysit baby Elijah at the park. Quiambao shared pictures of Joshua carrying a backpack and pushing his little brother in a stroller.

In another post that day, she said the stroll in the park took 20 minutes. “I asked Kuya if baby enjoyed it. He said baby got bored after a while. Not sure if it was really the small baby or the big baby who got bored but I’m taking Kuya for his words,” Quiambao said in jest.

The responsible big brother helped out in other ways too, such as changing the diapers and giving a bath. “Baby had a couple of poop blowouts today and even if Kuya hated changing diapers, he suffered the aroma since Mommy really [needed] an extra hand. Baby can no longer stay still to have his diaper changed,” she said.

A minor accident happened the next day—baby Elijah fell out of his crib and hit his nose. “Apparently, there a small gap between the headboard & the pillow that I wasn’t able to secure & he managed to crawl there!” Quiambao explained. Thankfully, all that was needed was a cold compress.

Baby Elijah is Quiambao’s first biological child with husband Ardy Roberto. Joshua is Roberto’s adopted son from his first marriage, and Quiambao considers him all her own.

In an Instagram post from 2018 dedicated to Joshua, she said, “Although he did not come from my womb, my love for him was birthed deep in my heart. So deep that I feel he is my own child. My first son — mine to me.”  /ra
