LOOK: Rita Avila adopts kitten found in rain
Actress Rita Avila opened up her home and heart to welcome a new member into her family — a stray kitten which her husband, director FM Reyes, found in the rain.
After Reyes saw the kitten “soaked in the rain,” he returned to the spot with Avila, who then picked the kitten up and dried it.
She later showed her newly-adopted animal companion with her fans and followers, as seen on her Instagram account yesterday, Oct. 2.
“So there is another baby in the house!!!!” she stated.

Her family decided to name the kitten as Jeremiel, a reference to a biblical character of the same name, which translates to “Mercy of God.”

Aside from the actress, one of her dogs seem to have given Jeremiel a warm welcome as well. Avila shared moments of the dog coming face to face with the kitten.

“Some kitty got jealous with our newly adopted baby,” Avila joked in a separate post.

Raising animals is nothing new to the actress, as she has always been open about being a proud “pet parent” on social media. She even calls her various pets her “babies,” as seen in an earlier post on Instagram last Saturday, Sept. 28, which featured photos of her with her other furry friends.

Aside from Avila, Heart Evangelista and Maritoni Fernandez also welcome animal companions with open arms. Evangelista announced earlier this June that she is setting up an animal shelter in Sorsogon, while Fernandez adopted a stray cat last July. JB
