MANILA, Philippines — Actor Dingdong Dantes commended his fellow actors in the Filipino remake of Korean drama “Descendants of the Sun” for their dedication to their roles as they immersed with the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Special Forces.
“A snappy salute to my co-actors for showing their never-say-die dedication to the craft by agreeing to immerse with our country’s Special Forces in preparation for our respective roles,” Dantes wrote in an Instagram post Thursday.
His post was accompanied with photos of himself alongside co-actors Rocco Nacino, Paul Salas, Prince Clemente, Jon Lucas and Lucho Ayala.
Having experienced what the country’s uniformed men do, Dantes commended them for their “love and dedication to protecting our people and securing the land.”
Dantes said this is the reason why it is the actors’ duty “to represent them properly and as accurately as possible on screen. And what better way to do it than by learning WITH them in their own school!”
“For actors like us, our battle ground is the set and our mission is to portray a character in the best way we can, so that the whole production can tell a story in the most effective way possible,” he added.
Last April, it was announced that Dantes will be portraying the role of Big Boss, originally played by Korean actor Song Joong-ki.
“Descendants of the Sun” first aired in Korea in 2016. The release of the Koreanovela adaptation has yet to be announced. /jpv
