Kris Aquino could be back to horror movies after “Kampon” was announced as an entry to this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).

The actress is preparing for the rigors of movie production by treating her migraines with botox prophylaxis, as stated in her Instagram posts on Friday, July 12. She said she still needs medical clearance from her doctors to shoot the film.

She asked her fans if she should make a comeback through the horror movie or give way to another actress. Fans expressed concern about her health, with some advising her to rest rather than to take on a project that could be physically demanding.

A certain Glenn (@gmariano) quoted her mother Corazon “Cory” Aquino’s advice to quit while on top. “You’ve cemented your name as the Horror Movie goddess…Concentrate on your well-being and you may be able to do other things again in the future,” he said.

Aquino said, “Tomorrow is never promised.”

“I want my bunso (youngest) to see his mama in the genre she loves most,” she explained. “Mas gusto ko ‘to for my sons [Josh and Bimby] to be reassured na hindi sumuko ang mama nila.” (I want this more for my sons to be reassured that their mom did not give up.)

Another fan, one Yelsie Silang (@yelsiesilang) told her to rest. Aquino assured her that she would, stating that she will vacation in Hawaii for a month.

One Lori Villa-Ignacio (@lorivillaignacio) shared her own experience with dealing with lupus and recommended that Aquino “continue relaxing” and being positive. The Queen of All Media told her that she did not want “to let my autoimmune conditions define me and limit me.”

As Instagram user @scaryredroses told her to do the movie, Aquino said that according to her sisters, “the movie might be the inspiration I need to really get healthier but I should obey my doctors and not overdo it.”

‘Magretire ka na’

One Paula Syjuco (@paulasyjuco) was pessimistic about the movie’s box office performance at MMFF. “Magretire ka na (Retire already). I don’t think you can beat Vice Ganda, Anne Curtis, Vic Sotto, Maine Mendoza this year, so save your horror career.”

Aquino answered, “I also know there’s no way to beat or even equal them… Pero hindi masama ang hangarin na mabawi ang puhunan at gumawa ng movie na may ‘tapang’ ang kwento.” (But there’s nothing wrong to aspire for a return on investment and to make a movie with “guts.”)

She said that she was the “underdog” among the films starring big names in the industry, given that she has not been on television for years.

Aquino acknowledged Senator Bong Go too for the movie’s selection for release at the MMFF.

“Alam na alam kong hindi namin panahon ngayon (I know it is not our time) but maybe Senator Bong Go who is in the executive committee is really a man who plays FAIR and looks beyond politics,” she said.

“Kung wala sya sa (If he were not in the) committee it would be easier for me to decide. But a door was opened for me after so many had been shut. Kaya napaisip na pwede pa rin pala (That is what made me consider) to go beyond our perceptions and have faith.”

The three other scripts chosen were “Momalland” starring Vice Ganda and Anne Curtis, “Mission Unstoppable” with Vic Sotto and Maine Mendoza and “Miracle in Cell No. 7” starring Aga Muhlach and Nadine Lustre. JB
