MANILA, Philippines — “Why are you doing this?”
This is what actor-athlete Matteo Guidicelli asked himself during his first few days in the Scout Ranger Orientation Course.
“Sometimes, especially the first four days, I questioned myself every day, ‘Matteo, why are you doing this? Why are you doing this? You live a good life. You have a driver, you’re fine,’” Guidicelli admitted Friday in an interview over CNN Philippines.
But thanks to his fellow classmates from the Philippine Military Academy (PMA), the 29-year-old was able to motivate himself in continuing what he started.
“I was very very lucky my squad mates from PMA were very very motivating. They told me, ‘Matteo what you chose is something difficult and not normal,’” he recalled.
“So that would always play in my head. I have an objective here. I want to do this. I placed myself here. I’m going to accomplish it,” he said.
Guidicelli has just finished the month-long Leadership Development and Scout Ranger Orientation Course where he received recognition for getting the highest grade among 97 students in his class.
Apart from topping his class, the actor also received commendation for his participation in school clean-up drives. /muf
