Snow Patrol teased fans with the new single on Twitter, also revealing the accompanying cover art.

“We have been working in the studio over the last few months on a project to celebrate 25 years of Snow Patrol,” they said.

“Time Won’t Go Slowly” was produced by guitarist and piano player Johnny McDaid. The melancholic song reflects on how time flies in a romantic relationship.

“Time would not go slowly though, I beg it to last, I just wanna be here with you, that is all I ask,” the band’s frontman Gary Lightbody sang in the opening verse.

Snow Patrol also teased that more new music will “follow in the coming weeks.”

It is still unclear whether “Time Won’t Go Slowly” will appear on their forthcoming eighth studio album, which would follow their 2018 “Wildness”.

The band was recently forced to cancel a series of upcoming tour dates, including their performance at Glastonbury’s festival.

Guitarist and pianist Johnny McDaid is recovering from surgery due to a serious neck issue.

Nathan Connolly, who is Snow Patrol’s lead guitarist and backing vocalist, has also been out of action since early June, as he is still recovering from nerve damage. HM/JB
