MANILA, Philippines — After making its world premiere at Cannes Film Festival, filmmaker Lav Diaz’s “Ang Hupa” will be featured in this year’s Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF).
One of the film’s casts, Shaina Magdayao shared the news Tuesday over her Instagram account.
“TIFF – SEE YOU THIS OCTOBER. Received an email from my dear director Lav Diaz that ANG HUPA/THE HALT will be part of the the Tokyo International Film Festival’s Crosscut Asia section – this year, OCT 2019,” Magdayao said.
“TIFF two years in a row?! Whhuuuttt?! Crrrrazzzyyy!!! I welcomed my first TIFF experience last year as an early bday gift – thought it was going to be a once in a lifetime thing,” she added.
Magdayao also attended the TIFF last year to represent Diaz’s rock opera “Ang Panahon ng Halimaw.”
“What an early present for my 30th!!! OH HOW CAN I NOT LOVE YOU, 2019. I serve an awesome and generous GOD,” Magdayao gushed.
“Ang Hupa” or “The Halt,” which stars Magdayao and Piolo Pascual, is a dystopian film imagining Southeast Asia in the year 2034.
This year’s TIFF will be held from October 28 to November 5, 2019. (Editor: Eden Estopace)
