Lea Salonga recently warned the public about a fake account using her name and photo, and allegedly requesting money from her fans.
“I would never do that, ever. Not in a million years,” the Tony Award-winning singer said via Facebook on Friday, June 28.
She advised her fans to report and block any account that uses her name and messages them, particularly those asking for money. Salonga also noted that the impostor does not have the same knack for grammar she has when it comes to the English language.
“By the way, I’ve seen a sampling of the messages. My God, talk about murder of the English language,” she said.
Salonga did not specify which account was posing as her to solicit cash.
This is not the first time Salonga’s name and photos have been used online for purposes the actress was not aware of. Earlier this month, Salonga slammed fake advertisements that claimed she was going to quit the showbiz industry. JB
