Eddie Garcia’s wish to be cremated granted by family

MANILA, Philippines — The late veteran actor Eddie Garcia’s wish to be cremated has been granted by his family.

Garcia’s stepson 1-Pacman Rep. Michael “Mikee” Romero shared Friday a photo of an olive green urn containing the actor’s ashes.

“‘Remember You are Dust and to Dust You Shall Return.’ Thank you Tito Eddie. 3:20am,” Romero captioned the photo.

Romero said around 40 immediate family and friends gathered around Garcia’s body as the cremation process started.

“At 1am, in front of around 40 immediate family and friends of the Garcia, Lagman and Romero gathered around tito eddie”s mortal body, his cremation process started,” Romero said.

“As he entered the cremation room, we all gave Tito Ed a standing ovation he deserved and started shouting “BRAVO” for the last time. We love you!!!” he shared.

Garcia had always expressed his wish to be cremated on the same day he dies.

The veteran actor’s wake will be open to public starting 3 p.m. on Friday until Sunday at The Heritage Park in Taguig City.

Garcia passed away Thursday after nearly two weeks of being in comatose state. Last June 8, the veteran actor suffered a neck fracture after tripping on a cable wire during the taping of an upcoming teleserye. (Editor: Mike U. Frialde)
