Clint Bondad talks about his first gay role in ‘Magpakailanman’

Clint Bondad spoke about his thoughts on playing his first gay role alongside award-winning actor Allen Dizon for GMA’s “Magpakailanman”.

“Wow, [I] never really played a gay role and ended up doing a little prepping for the role and was a little surprised because I actually thought I had it pretty figured out with the LGBT community,” the actor said via his Instagram post yesterday, June 11.

Bondad said the big difference he felt while playing the role was the “feeling” aspect of the personality, adding that heterosexual men would suppress pain by distracting themselves or “hardening of the heart.”

“As a whole there are many similarities, but the biggest difference I found was the importance of happiness,” Bondad said. “Happiness as importance ranked much higher in the LGBT community.”

He said the LGBT community’s premium on the importance of happiness usually speaks of a tough time they experienced growing up.

“Initially we all battle for acceptance, we just come to different conclusions depending also of course on the individual themselves. Happy #pridemonth!” the actor stated.

Bondad also joked about his time portraying the role with Dizon who was “probably even more straight” than him. “Never looked into a man’s eyes longer than into yours buddy,” he said. “[E]specially seductively [laughs]. Was all fun though!” JB
