FDCP taps young filmmakers to join ‘Sine Kabataan’
MANILA, Philippines — The Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) is inviting young filmmakers from ages 15 to 30 to join its short film competition “Sine Kabataan.”
FDCP announced Monday it is already accepting short films depicting “the youth’s perception of health, security and peacebuilding, education, and family values.” Deadline for submission of entries is on June 21, 2019.
On its third year, the Sine Kabataan Short Film Competition will choose eight finalists who will receive P10,000 each.
FDCP said finalists will be chosen based on their “content and choice of subject, story and screenplay, including the high technical standards for cinematography, production design, sound, editing, and other specialized aspects in filmmaking.”
Meanwhile, exceptional short films have the chance to win P50,000 for Best Short Film, P30,000 for Jury’s Choice, P30,000 for Best Director and P10,000 for Audience Choice.
Young filmmakers of the chosen short films will also get the chance to join “SineKamp,” an exclusive film camp hosted by the FDCP aiming to let participants learn from experts in the local film industry.

FDCP said selected short films will be paired with Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino (PPP) full features and will be screened nationwide during its weeklong festival from September 11 to 17. (Editor: Mike U. Frialde)
