MANILA, Philippines — Singer-actress and former “Pinoy Big Brother” housemate Maris Racal got candid during a press conference on Tuesday about her relationship with singer Iñigo Pascual.
“Kinlarify naman namin ni Inigo na never naman naging kami and sinabi naman namin in front of them na hindi naman kami,” Racal said. “Ngayon lang talaga. Siguro ayaw lang namin na sobrang ma-visible like together as a love team kasi syempre meron din kaming tinatahak na gusto.”
Racal and Pascual are collectively called “MarNigo” by their fans.
Racal pointed out how both of them had been pursuing different career paths as of the moment: “Iba-iba kami ng gusto. Siya, music, international. Ako, acting and then writing.”
“So ayaw lang namin na sobrang ‘yung mga tao sa paligid namin, hindi mapaghiwalay ‘yung idea of us together. Kasi mahihirapan din kami, like how will we grow?” Racal said. “So the more na mas kayo, kayo, kayo. Hindi na mawawala sa isip nila.”
The 21-year-old singer-actress admitted there had been changes over the past year, but she reiterated their desire to focus on their solo careers.
“Siguro like may changes na lang over one year kasi this time last year, love team, dami namin ganap together. Ngayon kasi, yun nga yung sa first answer ko kanina na iba iba kami ng gusto. Iba yung gusto niya, iba ang gusto ko, let’s just accept this,” she said.
Racal also asked their fans to simply support what they release and reminded them not to be “invested” on the idea of having a relationship.
“Ang masasabi ko na lang dyan, sana ‘yung nagsu-support sa’min, support niyo na lang po ‘yung kung ano ‘yung ilalabas namin kasi kung magiging masyadong invested sila about sa relationship. You know, people change and then maraming natural changes na nangyayari. So dapat kelangan nakaka-keep ka sa ganyan. Don’t get stuck sa idea na ganon,” she said.
Racal recently released a collaboration with Original Pilipino Music (OPM) icon Rico Blanco titled “Abot Langit,” while Pascual released a song with Chinese-Australian Youtube star Wengie titled “Mr. Nice Guy.”
