Enchong Dee harked back to Miriam Defensor-Santiago’s no-nonsense advice in choosing who to vote for in the general elections on May 13.

He shared a picture of the late Iron Lady of Asia on Instagram Friday, May 10, with the quote: “Ang balota ay hindi listahan ng mga magnanakaw, kaya pag-isipan mo ang mga pangalan na ilalagay mo!”

It has yet to be confirmed if Defensor-Santiago said the quote, but Dee nonetheless reiterated the need to vote wisely. “It [is] EXHAUSTING a lot of times, but if we stop fighting for the common good, we accept our defeat,” he wrote.

On Instagram Stories, the “Elise” actor shared a statement the former senator made when she sought to amend the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act. She wanted public officials to be liable for crimes made in previous terms of office.

“It is wrong to equate the reelection of a public official to condonation of his past criminal offenses,” she was quoted as saying.

“The result would be ludicrous. Any public official will feel free to commit any crime, including plunder, and thus winning reelection.”

“I [had] to check the dictionary and ask someone what this statement truly means,” Dee admitted.

“How timely. Pag nahalal yung mga criminal pustahan tayo unti-unti mawawala kaso nila,” he said.

(When the criminals are elected I’m willing to bet their cases will gradually disappear.)

During the campaign season, Dee said on Twitter he would vote for senatorial candidates Chel Diokno, Neri Colmenares, Samira Gutoc, Florin Hilbay and Gary Alejano. He said he was not paid for the endorsements.  /ra
