It has been a year since singer Gary Valenciano underwent a successful bypass surgery and he marked this with much gratitude to his supportive family, doctors, therapists, friends and fans.
“I find it very hard to believe that that was a year ago today,” remarked Valenciano via Instagram on May 6.
“I can’t help but thank God for the way he showered his love upon me in the form of my family, my kids, my wife who stood beside me from beginning to end,” he added. “For the greatest team of doctors, most excellent therapists, and the greatest of friends and people like you who prayed for me.”
Valenciano underwent bypass surgery last May 6, 2018, after tests showed one of his coronary arteries was “95 percent blocked” and had thin walls due to diabetes. He first felt something was wrong when he felt tightness and pain in his chest after a dance performance with his son Gab.
“You know when you see me in front of any camera or on top of any stage, it’s God’s way of saying your prayers have been answered,” Valenciano said. “I’m so excited to share more of what comes from this brand new heart for people like you, but for now let me just say I love you and god bless you and thank you.”
Friends of Valenciano expressed their love and joy, one of whom was fellow singer Martin Nievera.
“Happy you’re well bro,” he said. “Actually better than well. Now let’s push forward!!!”
Actor Rocco Nacino, meanwhile, called him an inspiration.
“Amen!!” he said. “You are such an inspiration!”
