Kapamilya star Jessy Mendiola threw her “Hawhaw” Luis Manzano a surprise birthday bash last April 21, inviting his close friends and his favorite band in a reggae-themed party.
“Minute to Win It” host Luis Manzano was met by a crowd singing “Happy Birthday” when he got off an elevator during his 38th birthday party. This moment was captured in a video uploaded by Mendiola on her YouTube channel yesterday, April 24.
“Grabe sobrang stressed ako and kinakabahan kasi sobrang bilis niyang makakutob ng surprise, pero this time feeling ko mag-wwork ito,” the “Maria Mercedes” actress admitted before the surprise.
(I am very stressed and nervous because [Luis] picks up on surprises quickly, but this time, I have a feeling this will work out.)
Manzano blew his birthday cake and greeted his guests, which included his father, veteran actor Edu Manzano. When they moved to the rooftop, Manzano was surprised one more time with his favorite reggae band, Tropical Depression. Manzano joined the band to perform their song “Kapayapaan”.
The actor also thanked his girlfriend, saying, “Alam ko (I knew) there was something special, but not this special. So thank you very much for the surprise party. Thank you for bringing everyone, especially Tropical Depression.”
Manzano also commended Mendiola for preparing for the birthday bash while they were on vacation.
Mendiola admitted that the preparations for the party were last minute, but she said Manzano looked happy nonetheless. “Super happy ako na masaya siya, (I am very happy that he is happy,)” the actress said.
She added, “I love you very much and I will do everything and anything just to make you happy, including preparing surprise parties for you.” JB
