Kurt Cobain deified as voice of generation

In this file photo taken on February 19, 1992, Kurt Cobain, lead singer for the US grunge rockers Nirvana, performs at the Nakano Sun Plaza in Tokyo. Decades after Cobain’s haunting rasp first bewitched the global airwaves, echoes of the Nirvana frontman are still touching generations of youth who weren’t even alive when he died. And 25 years after the devastating suicide of the 1990s counterculture poster child, Cobain’s former manager Goldberg says he’s finally ready to publicly reflect on the grunge rock pioneer’s legacy. In his book “Serving the Servant: Remembering Kurt Cobain” — published this week to mark the April 5th anniversary of the Seattle artist’s death at age 27 — Goldberg remembers a Cobain ahead of his time, whose quick wit and tender humanity shone through the melancholy of his shadowy persona.
