MANILA, Philippines — Despite being eyed to play the role of Marvel’s new character Wave by its co-creator, Angel Locsin said she was already done with superhero roles.

Marvel first released the image of Wave aka Pearl Pangan in early March, two months before the May release of the first of four “War of the Realms” comics where other Asian superheroes will also be introduced.

When Wave was unveiled by comic book writer and filmmaker Greg Pak via Twitter, Locsin replied to his tweet expressing her interest on Marvel’s first Filipina superhero.

“I’m excited to learn more about this character! I [love] that her weapon of choice is a Kampilan, w/c is believed to be the sword Lapu-Lapu used to strike down Ferdinand Magellan,” Locsin wrote.

“So, [thumbs up] for that! Regarding her costume, I wonder what’s the inspiration behind the design?” she added.

Wave’s Filipino designer and co-creator Leinil Francis Yu replied to Locsin’s tweet on Monday and said he was eyeing Locsin to portray the new Marvel superhero. However, plans of the upcoming comics being adapted to film have yet to be announced.

“It’s a collaboration of ideas between me, greg and Marvel editorial:).  Would love to see you as wave, Angel!” Yu said.

This led netizens to be hopeful that Locsin would bag the role in the future, but the actress turned this down in a tweet on Tuesday.

“Tapos na ko sa superhero roles hehehe :) but kilig na nag reply ang creator :)” Locsin said.

Locsin has been dubbed as the “Action-Drama Queen” after playing Filipino comics character Darna in the television series of the same name.

Wave was described by Marvel as “a mysterious new Filipino heroine.” She will be teaming up with heroes from China named Aero and Sword Master in the upcoming “The War of the Realms” comic, which is set in Asia. /cbb
