Singer-actress Angeline Quinto felt honored to perform for President Rodrigo Duterte and Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena during a state banquet at Malacañang on Jan. 16.
Quinto shared some scenes from the event via Instagram and showed pictures of her shaking Duterte’s hand and doing the “fist bump” pose with the two presidents. She looked regal in a sleek, white gown which she paired with a blue alampay, held by a silver brooch.
“It was truly an honor performing for our President and the President of Sri Lanka,” gushed Quinto.
Quinto’s post has garnered 30,000 likes from celebrities and netizens alike since the time of posting.
The elated singer further told her readers that performing in Malacañang was a great opportunity to showcase Filipino talent to international visitors. She gave thanks to God for all the blessings in her life.
She said, “Ito po ay isa na namang magadang pagkakataon to share our Filipino talents para po sa ting mga bisita mula sa ibang bansa. #ThankyouLordforeverything.”
Sirisena arrived in the Philippines on Tuesday, Jan. 15, for a five-day visit, with wreath laying at Rizal Park as his first official function on Jan. 16 before being welcomed by Duterte at Malacañang.
Sirisena has admired Duterte in the past, promising last July to “replicate the success” of the Philippines’ war on drugs. He also said his government would start hanging Sri Lankan drug criminals.
Sirisena repeated his praise for Duterte’s anti-drug war on Wednesday, saying the cause was personal to him.
“The war against crime and drugs carried out by you is an example to the whole world and personal to me,” Sirisena said in his speech on Jan. 16. “Drug menace is rampant in my country and I feel that we should follow your footsteps to control this hazard.” /ra
