Alicia Keys to host the 2019 Grammy Awards
MANILA, Philippines — Alicia Keys will be hosting the 2019 Grammy Awards!
The singer announced the news in a video posted via her Youtube channel on Tuesday titled “I’M HOSTING THE 2019 GRAMMYS.”
“I’m soooo EXCITED to announce that I’ll be hosting the 61st Annual Grammy Awards!! There’s so much in store and I CAN’T WAIT for y’all to see it ALL come to life,” she wrote in the video’s description box.
The almost ten-minute video showed Keys receiving a call from an unidentified voice saying, “It’s going to be such an exciting show this year because of all the female artists and performers.”
“So what would you say if I told you that you have the chance to host the whole thing? Alicia Keys, you are going to be the host of the 2019 Grammy Awards,” the caller added.
Article continues after this advertisementThe video also showed Keys announcing the news to her mother, husband Swizz Beatz and children Egy and Gen, with one of whom responded, “What’s the Grammys?”

Meanwhile, Keys expressed thanks and excitement to host the annual Grammy Awards on the latter part of the video.
“I know what it feels like to be on that stage, and I know what it feels like to be proud of the work that you’ve put in, and to be recognized for it. I just feel grateful that I’m able to bring that light and that energy,” she said.
“This is a first – it’s a first, and it’s amazing, and I think it’s perfect timing. Honestly, I’m really excited, I feel really good about it, because I feel like it’s the perfect opportunity for me to give the light back, lift people up, especially all the young women that are nominated,” she added.
Keys has won 15 Grammy awards over the course of her career. Her most recent trophy was Best R&B Album for “Girl on Fire” in 2014.
The Grammy Awards ceremony will be held on February 10, 2019 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. /cbb
