MANILA, Philippines — A lawyer of Queen of All Media Kris Aquino tagged as “malicious” the allegation of Nicardo “Nicko” Falcis of having received death threats from the actress.

“Mukhang tina-taymingan nila ang labas ng ito para ma-stress si Kris, at yung timing talagang malisyoso dahil kritikal yung period ni Kris,” Ricky dela Cruz of Divina Law firm said in a press conference on Saturday.

This came after reports said Falcis, Aquino’s former project manager, claimed he had been receiving death threats from the Aquino family.

Aquino previously filed complaints against Falcis for qualified theft and violation of the Access Devices Regulation Act (Republic Act No. 8484).

Aquino accused Falcis of using her company’s credit card for personal expenditures.

Dela Cruz was referring to Aquino’s condition, an autoimmune disease, for which she flew to Singapore for her initial diagnosis.

Aquino said she was afraid that it might be lupus.

Another lawyer of Aquino, Sigfrid Fortun, lamented that Falcis should have raised his defenses during the investigation.

“Bakit ngayon lang lumabas na itong supposed defenses may abogado tong si Nicko Falcis?” Fortun said during the press conference. “Lahat nung kanyang ginagawa itong defenses noon pa sana.”

Fortun added that Falcis spread his “defenses” on social media and not through the court.

“Gumagawa ka [Falcis] lang ng dahilan, ngayon napagsarhan na sa imbestigasyon nilalabas nila ngayon hindi sa husgado o sa prosecution office kundi sa social media,” he said.

Nilo Divina, still another Aquino lawyer, said they tried to reach out to Falcis. He added that they were only after the truth behind the cases.

“Gusto ko bigyan ng diin that we have nothing against Nicko … We are simply trying to communicate… we are not driven by hate, resentment or anger. We are just motivated by the truth. We will not stop till the truth comes out,” Divina said. /atm
