Show of gratitude for 2018, excitement for 2019 on IG

Hollywood stars bid 2018 adieu and greeted the new year on Instagram, some of them recapping their year succinctly. Others shared wishes with their online fans.

Reese Witherspoon, who posted a photo of herself in a flowing yellow dress, wrote, “Running into the new year like… Goodbye 2018… [Hello] 2019!”

In another new photo, the “A Wrinkle in Time” actress said, “I love a new year, when anything is possible. So many dreams came true for me—my book came out, I worked with so many people I respect and admire, I laughed a lot and spent a lot of time with friends and family.”

Witherspoon added, “I hope you all can spend some time writing down your dreams for yourself. Let’s make them all come true in 2019!”

Tom Holland, who appeared in “Avengers: Infinity War” and finished making a few other big films last year, said alongside a photo of himself snowboarding, “What a year it’s been. Thank you to everyone who made it a special one. Love you all.”

“Game of Thrones” actress Emilia Clarke, who posted blurred pictures of herself at a beach, aptly said, “Oh 2018, you went by in a flash and a blur… Dearest Instaworld, I truly hope your 2019 is full of contentment, laughter and recycling.”

Clarke, who wrapped up filming for the series last June, further addressed fans, “I’m resolving to try to laugh more in 2019… Join me if you feel like it.”

Constance Wu, meanwhile, alluded to the success of the film “Crazy Rich Asians,” and expressed gratitude. “Bye 2018, thanks for being so cool,” Wu, who also stars in the sitcom “Fresh Off the Boat,” said, sharing a magazine photo of herself. “Thanks to all of you for being you. Here’s to 2019 adventures, dreams. Love and gratitude.”

Jennifer Garner, who starred in the action flick “Peppermint” and the HBO series “Camping” last year, likewise gave thanks. “I am grateful for all of the friendship, health, silliness and growth of 2018. I am prayerfully grateful for my children and family. Please, more of the same next year, for all of us,” she said in the caption of herself holding a sparkler.—OLIVER PULUMBARIT
