Jodi Sta. Maria is off to a great start this new year, as she conquered another one of her fears: spiders.
The “Sana Dalawa ang Puso” actress gathered all her courage to touch the eight-legged insect, despite being an arachnophobic—one who has extreme fear of spiders—all her life. This she shared on Twitter Thursday.
“Such an important day in my life,” the actress, who is currently in Sweden for a vacation, described her achievement. “I have learned that courage isn’t the absence of fear, but it is facing and confronting it even when you are most afraid.”

Sta. Maria shared another video of her touching the spider, with her hand gently stroking its hairy legs. “Sorry pero (but) [I] just want to say I’m proud of myself for being able to do this,” the actress said.
And since her fear is long gone, she added, “now…thinking of getting a tarantula for a pet.”

This was not the first time Sta. Maria conquered one of her fears. Previously, she shared overcoming claustrophobia—the fear of being in cramped spaces—by being entirely covered in prosthetics from head to toe for a role in a horror film. She was also able to swim in the freezing Baltic Sea while in Sweden. /ra
