Christmas is definitely right around the corner and what else can fortify the Christmas spirit but some caroling? Kapamilya stars Kim Chiu and Vice Ganda did something different in Gandang Gabi Vice (GGV) last Dec. 9 when they went out of the studio and into the streets to regale bus and UV Express riders, as well as passengers of private cars with rounds of “Jingle Bells.”
With tambourines and a container in hand, Chiu and Vice Ganda knocked on windows of vehicles whenever the stoplight would flash red.
“Mangangaroling lang po para sa Bantay Bata,” Vice Ganda said to a group of shocked commuters inside a UV Express van.
The pair also went up to private vehicles and inside a bus, much to the passengers’ surprise. It seems, however, that the public just could not get enough of the two, as many of them asked to take pictures with the stars. Others joined in on the fun and sang with them.
At one point, Chiu suggested they go inside a jeepney, but Vice Ganda decided against it.
“Eh kasi pag sa jeep baka limitado lang pera nila. Nakakahiya naman ma-p-pressure sila,” he said. “Yung sa nakakaluwagluwag. Katulad dun sa bus kanina medyo nahiya ako, sakto lang yung pamasahe nila.”
After a few more minutes of caroling, the two decided to sit on the street where they counted their earnings. Varied coins and bills spilled on the ground as they put the money in the donation can.
Chiu and Vice Ganda were able to collect a ballpark figure of P2,600. In the end, they also shelled out money from their own pockets to add to the donations.
“Nakakahiya naman sa Bantay Bata kung bibigay natin 2,600,” said Vice Ganda. “Buuin na natin yung 10,000.” /ra
