Thirteen years after discovering that he has type 1 diabetes, Nick Jonas took to Instagram to reflect on his ongoing journey toward a healthier lifestyle.

The 26-year-old pop star posted photos of himself from 2005—when he was just diagnosed—and a recent one, showing his better and much-improved physique.

“The picture on the left is me a few weeks after my diagnosis—barely 100 pounds after having lost so much weight from my blood sugar being so high,” he recalled.

“On the right is me now—happy and healthy. I’m prioritizing my physical health, working out and eating healthy and keeping my blood sugar in check,” the “Jealous” singer said, adding that he’s grateful for being surrounded by family and loved ones who help him “every step of the way.”

Nick also thanked his fans for their continued support, and left words of encouragement for people dealing with the same condition. “Never let anything hold you back from living your best life,” said Nick, who’s the cofounder of Beyond Type 1—a nonprofit organization that aims to assist and educate those with type 1 diabetes and other diseases.
