Aguilera recounted the encounter during her sold-out “Liberation Tour” show at The Saenger Theater, New Orleans on November 9.

“Last night, I go to this little bar and there’s this live band. I was like ‘Let me get up on stage and jam with this guy and maybe I’ll sing a song or whatever and be fun,’” the singer said, as seen in a video posted on Twitter by The Advocate’s Marchaund Jones.

Aguilera said she was denied of the microphone: “He would not give me the mic. He was not feeling it, he was not gonna give up his mic.”

“I was like, ‘Oh, I just want to come just let me come up,’ and he just said, ‘What, are you gonna dance for me?’ I was like, ‘No, I just want to sing a song with you,’” she added

It was later found out that Claude Bryant and the All Stars, a local reggae band, was performing at the said bar.

Bryant admitted he didn’t recognize Aguilera in a report by New Orleans television station WGNO.

“I’m sorry Christina, I just didn’t recognize you! I didn’t recognize her because she had a cap over her head and over her eyes. She was in a jersey,” Bryant said.

He went on to say how he feels bad about what happened and would love if Aguilera could come back and sing with him.

“Come back Christina. You can sing anything you want with us,” he said.
